This Auckland city apartment was modestly rescued from a tired and poorly planned state and transformed into a contemporary home for the best of urban living.

The existing apartment presented great potential for adaptation with it’s convenient urban location, north facing aspect with natural light to three sides, through-building ventilation, and multiple outdoor balconies with views. Yet it was cramped, and poky.

The design sought to free up the layout by allocating more space to the bathrooms, opening up the kitchen and improving the flow and connectivity of the living areas.

Combining soft curving forms with a material palette of timber, stone and colour to evoke calmness, simplicity and elegance. We were happy to be a part of giving this apartment a second life.
